Peripheral neuropathy is a term that describes a pathological change involving nerves in the upper & lower extremities. Causes may include diabetes, alcoholism, chemo therapy, and heavy metal poisoning to name a few.

Many patients with peripheral neuropathy have seen several doctors for their condition. They may have been told there is no cure, and there is only a small amount of treatments that may be helpful. There is a variable consensus among physicians about the best treatment options for peripheral neuropathy especially in Diabetes Mellitus.

The vast majority of patients are treated on a conservative basis with oral or topical medications, but these options can be limited in treating the pain.

Now!! There is hope for some patients. A surgical option that may greatly decrease the pain caused by the neuropathy, and may help to restore some sensation.

Many neuropathies cause a swelling of the nerve, which causes entrapment of the nerve. This entrapment increases the pain. By releasing selective nerves, the pain may greatly be decreased.

These selected nerve releases were developed by A. Lee Dellon, M.D. A plastic surgeon at John Hopkins University. The neuralysis combination is called the "Dellon Procedure".

Dr. Wynn has received advanced training in lower extremity nerve surgery by "The Association of Extremity Nerve Surgeons" and Dr. Dellon's associates. Which is focused on this surgical nerve decompression technique and is performing this combination of surgical nerve decompressesions called the "Dellon Technique".

Dr. Wynn is available for this consultation and testing needed to help establish which nerves are involved.
