NBA Player Receives Foot Surgery for Injury

Foot and Ankle InjuriesThe Trail Blazers’ CJ McCollum suffered a fracture to the fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot during a practice, a re-injury of the same area in early 2013. As a result, McCollum will undergo surgery to help repair his broken foot.

McCollum’s prior injury took him off the court for the rest of the previous season, but there is no timetable as to when he will recover from his current injury. The 6’4 McCollum was the 10th pick in the 2013 draft and averaged 23.9 points in 12 games as a senior.

Everyone should take care of feet, but more importantly for athletes that put stress on them on a daily basis. If you need help recovering from a foot or ankle injury, consider consulting a podiatrist like Dr. Michael Wynn of Foot Care Associates of Texas, P.A.

Foot Rehabilitation for Athletes

Injured athletes are always looking for better, faster ways to aid their recovery and get back to the sport they love. To do this, podiatrists and physical therapists are often consulted so the injured athlete can get back onto the field as soon as possible. But rehabbing an injury is just as serious as the injury itself, and going through the motions of physical therapy or rehabilitation is a necessary process to keeping that injury at bay.

Sports Therapist or Physical Therapist?

If an athlete gets a foot injury, it is essential to receive foot rehabilitation to ensure proper healing. Sports therapists are more focused on athletic-related injuries than general physical therapists. It is important for an athlete to become healed properly before they attempt to get back into their game.

Physical Therapy Gives Hope

Physical therapy helps to keep athletes as active as they are physically capable, which will get them ready to return to the field once their feet become healed. Physical therapy often gives hope to athletes.
